Theater, art and culture takes up the Kohinoor Theater Carnival in Hyderabad

Ajay Mankanapalli, the personality of Hyderabad -based theater, says the mind behind the Kohinoor theater carnival, “We cannot have a Kohinoor diamond, but our true treasures are contained in art, music, dance and culture.” To run in Hyderabad from 15 to 17 September, this multilingual festival aims to spot the theater and its associated arts.

The three -day cultural showcase brings together theater personalities from all over India, which offers a mixture of presentations. Along with demonstrations, the festival provides a lineup of interactions and workshops with body movement, Dapu Mime, and story for traditional martial arts such as Kalari and Kalari and Kararasamu, set and stage design, lighting, script writing, tribal folk performance, and even an art exhibition.

Ajay explains that cultural exchange -provisions are largely limited to Hyderabad. “States like Kerala, Maharashtra, and Karnataka host theater festivals enriching their local culture. With limited opportunities to attend the theater festivals in states, Ajay believes that local creativity is often discontinued. “The idea of ​​KTC is to celebrate, make and cooperate,” he says. “The exchange of ideas and stories widespread our attitude. Looking at various presentations and their production styles provides insight into various creative approaches, adaptation and storytelling.”

This year’s carnival consists of seven products, including Salumagala Thai Thamkka (Karnataka), Dusro na koi (Madhya Pradesh), Alfi 12 Missing (Kerala), and Rukmani (West Bengal), a biopic on Rukmini Devi Arundale. For Ajay, the festival is a long -funded dream. “My wings were not big then,” he remembers his youth when he was new to the field with small means. Today, with years of experience as a theater actor, director, film artist and writer, he sees the carnival as a way to give back the art that shaped him.

Ajay has invested most of his own resources in the festival with the support of other stakeholders. This initiative is also supported by the Department of Culture of the Government of Telangana and the Telangana Sangeet Nataka Academy.
