Tom signs Nolan’s next film

This will be the first collaboration between Tom and Christopher. Although details of his next directorial are not yet known, it will most likely not have a contemporary setting. It will either be set in the past like his previous film Oppenheimer (2023), or in the future like Interstellar (2014). Matt Damon, who has worked with Christopher in both, has also joined his next film.

Christopher’s next film will be co-produced by his and his wife Emma Thomas’ banner Syncopy Inc. and Universal Pictures, marking the first time the two production houses will team up after last year’s Academy Award-winning blockbuster Oppenheimer. Prior to Oppenheimer, Christopher had mostly worked with Warner Bros. following the Tenet (2020) debacle.

Warner Bros. then produced Greta Gerwig’s musical satire Barbie, which outperformed Oppenheimer at the box office and also performed better globally. Warner Bros. offered Christopher a check for the fee he had waived for operating Tenet during the pandemic. While Christopher graciously accepted the delayed remuneration, he continued to carve out his place next to Warner Bros.

Tom’s busy schedule

There was no release of Tom this year. Their last meeting was last year on Todd Graff’s psychological thriller show The Crowded Room on Apple TV. He will take over the filming of Christopher Nolan’s next film and Spider-Man 4 in 2025. Tom has been playing superheroes since the Russo Brothers’ 2016 blockbuster Captain America: Civil War. He then returned to the role of Peter Parker for three standalone films and two Avengers films. Spider-Man 4 will be directed by Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton.

Since Tom’s girlfriend and co-star Zendaya will be busy filming Spider-Man 4 in 2025, she will reprise her role of Chaney in Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi show Dune 3 in 2026. Meanwhile, Tom is also likely to appear as Spider-Man in the Russo Brothers’ Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to begin shooting in spring 2025.
