A week after its release, Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhawa’ collected Rs 219.75 crore at the domestic box office. On its seventh day, a working Thursday, it earned Rs 22 crore, according to the industry tracker Caikilak. The film saw its highest grossing on Sunday, at Rs 48.5 crore, and has maintained more than Rs 20 crore daily. Its global total is now Rs 270 crore.

‘Chhawa’ has become the biggest hit of Vicky Kaushal’s career as a prominent actor, which crosses last year’s blockbusters. In its first week, it performed better than ‘Bhool Bhulaiya 3’ (Rs 158.25 crore) and ‘Singham Again’ (Rs 173 crore), both benefited from the release of Diwali holiday. ‘Bhuli Bhuliya 3’ ended its India by Rs 260.04 crore, while ‘Singham Again’ earned Rs 247.85 crore. The first week collection of the biggest Hindi hit of 2024, ‘Stri 2’, was Rs 275.35 crore, in which ‘Chhawa’ was kept close to breaking more records.

On Thursday, Chhawa recorded 27.96% of the overall occupation in theaters. In Maharashtra, where the film is based on the Maratha warrior Sambhaji Maharaj, it performed exceptionally well. Mumbai, with more than 1,400 shows, saw 43.5% occupancy, while Pune, with 730+ shows, was a strong 59% occupancy. As expected, the collections of the film in the region were higher than other parts of the country. Meanwhile, in the Delhi-NCR region, where the film had 1,300+ shows, the occupancy was around 16% on Thursday.

On the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on 19 February, Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav and Goa CM Dr. Pramod Sawant made an announcement. He announced that Vicky Kaushal’s historical drama ‘Chhawa’ based on Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj will be tax-free in his respective states.

A historical action drama, ‘Chhawa’ delays the life of Maratha king Sambhaji played by Vicky Kaushal. Directed by Laxman Utekar, the film also includes Akshaye Khanna and Rashmika Mandanna.
