More information
according to Venice Film FestivalThe official synopsis for Queer reads, “1950. William Lee, an American expatriate in Mexico City in the early 50s, spends his days almost entirely alone, except for a few contacts with other members of the small American community. His meeting with Eugene Allerton, a young student newly arrived in town, showed him for the first time that it might be possible after all to establish an intimate relationship with someone.
Luca said of the film, “How can a man be other than sad at what he sees and feels?” William Burroughs asks in the last entry of his personal diary before his death. By adapting his second novel, published nearly forty years after he wrote it, we have tried to respond to this humble appeal of the great iconoclast of the famous generation. Lee loves Allerton, Allerton loves Lee: will they meet, despite all the missteps and scares that befall them both on their picaresque journey across South America projected by Burroughs’s mind?”
‘Queer’ is scheduled to release in theaters on November 27.
