How many marriages has Whoopi Goldberg been in the past?
Goldberg has been married three times in his life. Her first marriage was to Alvin Martin, which ended in divorce in 1979. They have a daughter named Alexandria. In 1986, Goldberg married cinematographer David Klassen, but the marriage only lasted two years. Her third marriage, to Lyle Trachtenberg, ended after just one year in 1995.

Although the star is against marriage, she believes in informal relationships. She emphasizes that not everyone is made for marriage and highlights how a little intimacy in life can still bring joy. “A lot of people, you know, enjoy sex. So a little hit and run sometimes isn’t bad.”
Goldberg’s explosive interview with Piers Morgan in 2011 caused a stir when she candidly admitted that she was not in love with any of her three husbands. When explaining why she attempted marriage in the past despite not feeling the desire to be married permanently, the celebrity host cited a desire to feel normal. She thought that getting married would make her look normal, but that did not happen.
“But obviously that’s not the case, that’s not a good reason to get married. You really have to spend life with someone through the ups and downs and I’ve just learned that’s not for me.” she told Morgan at the time.
