Steven Knight talks about Cillian Murphy-starrer Peaky Blinders.

“Well, it’s interesting that you should ask that question because the movie is coming and it won’t be the end,” he told the UK’s Times Radio. However, the screenwriter did not reveal whether it is another series or a film.

He also said that the shooting of the Peaky Blinders film has been completed, but the release date has not been decided yet. “It’s a little early for that, but you know, you can figure out it’ll take about a year,” he said.

In the film, Cillian is reprising his role of Birmingham gangster Tommy Shelby from the 2013 drama series Peaky Blinders. The new film is directed by Tom Harper. Set in Birmingham between 1919 and 1934, Peaky Blinders follows the rise of the Shelby family as they travel through a world grappling with radical social, economic and political change.

The British period crime drama, about the Peaky Blinders crime gang after World War I, ended with its sixth season in April 2022. Creator Steven stated that he would like to continue the story in “another form”.

Peaky Blinders, which premiered on BBC Two in 2013, moved to BBC One and eventually became a worldwide phenomenon after becoming available on Netflix. The film will also star Barry Keoghan, Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth and Stephen Graham.
